Lambda Law Alliance
Description
Lambda Law Alliance provides an academically and socially supportive network for members of sexual orientation and gender identity minorities and their allies enrolled in the Law School. The organization also heightens awareness throughout the Law School, as well as the University community, about legal issues relevant to sexual orientation and gender identity minorities. Lambda attempts to keep the community informed of its interests and concerns and pushes for the expansion of equal civil rights for all.
Mission Statement
The purposes of Lambda Law Alliance are to: (1) educate students, faculty and staff regarding issues concerning the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer community at the University of Virginia; (2) serve as advocates on matters pertaining to lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer individuals at the University of Virginia; (3) organize students, faculty and staff interested in the social and legal issues surrounding sexual orientation and gender gender identity; (4) serve the greater Charlottesville community by organizing and promoting philanthropic endeavors; and (5) perform outreach to promote the Law School through communication with lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer graduate and undergraduate organizations.
