    Race Judicata

    Description
Race Judicata is an annual 5K mixed trail and road race organized by the Student Bar Association's Public Service Committee. The race starts and ends at the steps of the Law School and winds its way behind the school onto a portion of the Rivanna trail. Please see the “Links” section on the bottom left of this page for a map of the course. We recommend participants run or walk the course before race day, as the course is challenging (but very fun!). We encourage runners and walkers of all levels to participate in this fun event. Each participant will receive a t-shirt and has a chance to win door prizes, donated by generous Charlottesville businesses. There are prizes for the fastest male and female runners overall and in each category, including: 1Ls, 2Ls, 3Ls, LL.M.s, faculty/staff, other graduate students, and non-law school participants.

    Mission Statement
Race Judicata's mission is to bring awareness to and raise money for a local Charlottesville organization. This year, as in past years, the Public Service Committee has partnered with Action for a Better Living Environment (ABLE), a service organization that provides opportunities to help disadvantaged children in the Charlottesville community through a weekly after-school tutoring program, as well as a “big sibling” match-up. ABLE will use the race proceeds to buy books and worksheets for the tutoring program, as well as to fund events for big and little siblings. In addition to raising money and awareness for the charity, the event is a fun day of running outdoors in beautiful Charlottesville.
